was taken while trekking through the jungle of Northern
Thailand where Kimberly says there were many opportunities to
interact with native, hill tribe people. The ladies in the
photo belong to the Akhu tribe. They are selling handicrafts
to tourists visiting their village. |

Overlook" Description: This photo
was taken on the balcony of the WWII Museum at Hellfire Pass
near Karanchurabi, Thailand. The Australian government built
this museum to commemorate the deaths of the many Australian,
American and European POWs that died during the construction
of Hellfire Pass, part of the railroad line that was to run
through Southeast Asia during the Japanese
occupation. |

State students bonding for life in Paris. |

Student: Richard Ely,
Munich, Germany (Spring 2003) Title: "Dachau" Description: The gate
from Germany's first concentration camp reads, "Work makes you
free." Started in 1933, Dachau was originally a camp for
political prisoners. Unlike some other more infamous
concentration camps, there was no mass murder at Dachau,
although tens of thousands of prisoners did die through
starvation, disease and torture. This photo was taken in July
2004 as Richard toured the memorial. |

Japan (Fall 2003) Title:
"Penn State Pretzels" Description: This
picture was taken in Shinagawa, Japan inside a food/trinket
store. As can be seen in the photo, the Penn State pretzels
come in different flavors and cost approximately $3.75. Connie
doesn't know why they named the pretzels after Penn State, but
she says that it just goes to show the power of Blue and
White! |
